Spring 2016 AGM is announced!

Welcome to 2016, somewhat belatedly. The details are out for the Spring AGM, and I just attended my first swap meet for 2016, so it's starting to feel like touring season is in sight. The AGM will be on Saturday, April 9th in Guelph.

The time leading up to the AGM is a good opportunity to think about volunteering to serve on the club's Board of Directors. The club always needs people willing to get involved in running the club, and new members bring in new ideas. If you are willing, just let someone know and they'll be sure to nominate you. If you've never been on the Board, feel free to ask any of us about it. Alternatively, if you know someone else that you think would be good for the role, encourage them before the AGM to volunteer. Not being able to attend this AGM isn't an obstacle either. People can stand for election in absentia provided they indicate their willingness in advance. The commitment can be as small as two meetings and some email discussions each year, or if time permits there is lots of other work that can benefit from more participation. Even better, bring your own ideas of agenda items to improve the club. It should be fun to keep the club going so we can all have fun, right?

The AGM will be preceded by a morning seminar on rebuilding and tuning coils, along with a craft show/tell/help as an alternative for those that prefer. There will be write-ups on rebuilding coils with a short demo to show how it’s done. Experience has shown that testing/adjusting coils is the most time consuming part of coil maintenance so more time will be devoted to using the coil testers. There won't be time to rebuild any coils so if you are bringing any to tune up make sure any repairs or rebuilds are already done and they are ready to be adjusted properly to run. Make sure you bring whatever you'll need, such as coil points or capacitors, as no parts will be provided.

NOTE: There is a big volleyball tournament going on in Guelph that weekend. Rooms are hard to get, are expensive, and will likely be noisy. Contact Gibsons if you need to get a room in the area.

The registration form and information sheet will be distributed by email/mail soon, so watch your mailbox for these. You will also be able to find further information as it becomes available on the event page on this website. Hope to see you there!
